March 27, 2024
Geoffrey Roach appointed Country Manager at Chukka Barbados, succeeding Andrea Franklin. Roach, with 30+ years of tourism industry leadership experience, looks forward to enhancing Harrison's Cave as a top attraction.
Experienced tourism professional Geoffrey Roach has been appointed Country Manager at Chukka Barbados, replacing Andrea Franklin who left the company to take up the job as Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) CEO.
Roach has over 30 years of experience in leadership roles with several organisations, of which ten were in senior/managerial positions within the tourism industry, according to a statement from Chukka. These included chairman of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA); CEO, Bridgetown Cruise Terminals Inc. (BCTI); and director of both the BTMI and the Barbados Tourism Product Authority (BTPA).
”I am looking forward to working with the Chukka team to maintain Harrison’s Cave as an attractive and exciting attraction for all patrons, both local and visitors, within a multi-experience facility,” Roach said. “The team here is a vibrant team and I look forward to our building on the foundation that has been laid.”
Roach joined the team in the role of Country Manager (Designate) on February 19 and worked closely with Franklin in the interim, officially taking up the appointment of Country Manager on March 15.
Welcoming Roach to the team, Chukka Adventures’ CEO Marc Melville said his “expertise and innovative leadership are key to advancing our vision of providing lifelong memories through embedded authentic adventurous experiences”.
He also expressed heartfelt thanks to Franklin who he said had been instrumental in Chukka’s success, especially since the reopening of Harrison’s Cave in July 2021.
“Her dedication during the pandemic, her ability to overcome significant challenges, and her leadership in transforming Harrison’s Cave into an all-day eco-adventure park have been remarkable. We are grateful for Andrea’s commitment and contribution to Chukka’s journey and wish her the best in her new role as CEO of the BTMI,” Melville added.
