Virgin Atlantic has appointed Sean Edwards as its new Country Manager for the Caribbean, aiming to strengthen its presence in one of the airline’s most significant regions.
Edwards, who brings a wealth of experience from the airline and travel industries, will lead Virgin Atlantic’s operations throughout the Caribbean and oversee its commercial strategy.
The appointment marks a return to Virgin Atlantic for Edwards, who previously held a senior role in the airline’s loyalty and travel division and recently managed commercial operations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Based in Barbados, Edwards will be responsible for directing the airline’s regional teams and enhancing Virgin Atlantic’s service and operations across the Caribbean.
In a statement, Simon Hawkins, Virgin Atlantic’s Vice President for the Americas, expressed confidence in Edwards’ leadership abilities: “I am absolutely thrilled to welcome Sean back to the Virgin Atlantic family and to my team. His exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication, and deep understanding of our brand make him the ideal person to build on our successes and drive continued growth. I’m confident that under his guidance, we will strengthen our performance and seize new opportunities to expand our presence and partnerships in the region.”
Edwards expressed his enthusiasm for his new role and highlighted his goals for Virgin Atlantic in the Caribbean: “I am incredibly excited to be returning to Virgin Atlantic and stepping into this new role. Leading such a dynamic and passionate team is truly an honour, and I’m eager to collaborate closely with our valued customers and trade partners. Together, we will continue to drive exceptional results, strengthen our relationships, and further solidify Virgin Atlantic’s position as the airline of choice in the Caribbean.”
Virgin Atlantic has long considered the Caribbean a vital part of its global network. This October, the airline celebrates 26 years of flights between London and Barbados, underscoring its commitment to the region.
Virgin Atlantic’s modern fleet, including the A350 and A330neo, now serves the Barbados route, reflecting its emphasis on efficient and comfortable air travel.
In addition to its London-Barbados route, Virgin Atlantic also offers inter-island flights from Barbados to Grenada and St. Vincent, providing local and international travellers greater access to Caribbean destinations. (PR)
