Unclaimed Compensation: Barbadians Missing Out on Thousands from Barbados Water Authority Due to Lack of Filed Claims

"Barbadians at risk of missing out on compensation from Barbados Water Authority due to unfiled claims. Fair Trading Commission reports thousands of dollars unclaimed by 4,081 customers between 2021-2022."
BARBADIANS ARE MISSING OUT on thousands of dollars due from the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) for sub-par service because they are not filing the required claims.
The Fair Trading Commission (FTC) has reported that between 2021 and 2022, there were 4 081 BWA customers eligible for $87 845.
However, because none of them submitted a “manual claim” within three months of the occurrence of the event that warranted such action, they did not receive a cent in compensatory credits.
“Customers are entitled to compensation where the BWA fails to meet the targets stipulated under the guaranteed standards. However, a customer is required to submit a manual claim, within three months of the occurrence of the event that gave rise to the claim,” the utility regulator explained. (SC)
