Men Remanded to Dodds Prison in Welches Beach Drug Bust Case, Court Appearance Set

Five men involved in a drug bust at Welches Beach were remanded to Dodds Prison. They face charges related to cannabis possession, trafficking, and importation, with a bail application pending.
Five of the six men held in connection with last Sunday’s drug bust at Welches Beach, Christ Church, were remanded to Dodds Prison yesterday.
They are scheduled to reappear in the Oistins Magistrates Court on Thursday, at which time counsel indicate they will make a bail application.
Roydell Skeete, 40 of Sandy Hill Trace, Tobago; Damario Dottin, 27, Brereton; Jamar Kirton, 35, Sunbury; John Edey, 42, Evelyn Road and Wayne Chase, 53 of Edgecumbe Tenantry, all in St Phillip, were charged with possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and the importation of cannabis.
They were not required to plead when they appeared in No. 1 District “A” Magistrates Court before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy Sargeant.
Police seized 566.9 kilograms of cannabis valued at $4.6 million.
Kings Counsel Michael Lashley represented Edey and Skeete, while the other accused were represented by Shadia Simpson and Simon Clarke.
A sixth person, likely to be charged, is said to be in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. (SAT)
