Justice of Appeal Jefferson Cumberbatch Passes Away at 65 | Supreme Court of Barbados

Justice of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Barbados, Jefferson Cumberbatch, has passed away at the age of 65. He was a respected legal scholar and served in various influential roles within the legal field. His contributions were also recognized through his work with the Advocate Newspaper.
Justice of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Barbados Jefferson Cumberbatch has passed away at the age of 65.
Cumberbatch was a well-respected scholar in the legal fraternity and was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2019.
Before being appointed to the Supreme Court, he was a Senior Lecturer in Law and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus.
Justice Cumberbatch also served as Commissioner of the Regional Judicial and Legal Services Commission from 2009-2012, Chairman of the Consumer Claims Tribunal, Chairman of the Anti-Money Laundering Authority and a member of the board of the Financial Services Commission.
He was also known for his contributions to the Advocate Newspaper on legal matters.
Justice Cumberbatch passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
