All hands were on deck Monday evening as several people, including emergency officials, rescued an elderly man who fell into a ditch in Bridgetown.
However, had it not been for the vigilance and quick thinking of St George Secondary School students Christian Whitehall, 13, and Shakayla Riley-Sealy, 12, the situation could have been much worse for the 77-year-old man who had to be pulled from the trench at the corner of Hart Street.
Yesterday, the two students were praised for their efforts during a short presentation at the Constant, St George school, which included Chief Fire Officer Errol Maynard.
During an interview with the Saturday Sun, they recalled crossing the street located between City Centre Mall and St Mary’s Anglican Church when they noticed the elderly man hit his head and fall. (TSG)
