September 22, 2024
Christ Church Foundation School approved to reopen for face-to-face classes on September 23 after inspection. Grantley Adams Memorial School shifts to online learning due to noxious odour issue. Ministry monitoring closely.
The Christ Church Foundation School has been given the green light to reopen for face-to-face classes starting Monday, September 23 following an inspection led by the Ministry of Education.
A final walkthrough of the school, conducted on Sunday, September 22, involved a team including members of the school’s Board of Management, the Principal, and representatives from the teachers’ unions. The inspection focused on assessing the completion of necessary works and the overall cleanliness of the facilities.
Upon conclusion, all parties agreed that in-person classes could resume as scheduled, providing relief to students and staff who have been awaiting the school’s reopening.
Meanwhile, Grantley Adams Memorial School will be engaging in online learning from Monday, September 23, through Friday, September 27, 2024. The decision follows a Sunday inspection of the school, which revealed the continued presence of a noxious odour that led to its early closure on Thursday, September 19. Tests have been ordered to identify the source of the odour, and students and staff will remain at home while the issue is being addressed.
During this period, both students and teachers at Grantley Adams Memorial will transition to online learning to prevent any loss of instructional time. The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as new information becomes available.
Face-to-face classes at Grantley Adams Memorial are expected to resume once the issue is resolved and the school environment is deemed safe for occupancy. (PR)
