Teachers at St John Primary School Continue Industrial Action Over Environmental Issues
November 28, 2023
Teachers at St John Primary School are taking industrial action due to environmental issues, such as mold infestation, at the school building. The Ministry of Education is responsible for resolving the matter.
Expect teachers at St John Primary School to be on the job today, but not in the problem-plagued building.
That is the word from president of the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) Rudy Lovell after another day of industrial action over environmental issues at the rural school.
The action is a continuation from last week when employees turned up at the Glebe Land, St John school but did not go into the building, which they say is mould-infested, leading to respiratory illnesses and severe medical problems.
Lovell said the next move to head off similar action rests with the Ministry of Education, which is legally responsible for providing a clean and healthy working environment for its employees. (AC)
