Five months after its launch, the Barbados is Blooming initiative, which aims to ensure children in communities across the island have access to books and develop and nurture a love for reading, will soon move into its second phase.
The second stage of the literacy project will be launched on April 22, focusing on the topic Cyber Security and Internet Bullying, at the Barbados Community College (BCC) where the little libraries for the project are made by students of the woodwork class.
The Prince Godwill D Fomusoh Foundation (PGDFF) Inc. and the Massy Foundation, in partnership with the Community Development Department have been working together on the project which was launched in November last year at the Parkinson Resource Centre and has since been expanded to four community centres, The Ann Hill School and Shelley’s Cottage.
The public is encouraged to donate books for the project. Donation bins can be found at Massy Warrens, Kooyman in Kendall Hill, Christ Church and Farm and Garden Shop in Salters, St George.
