Deighton Griffith Secondary School Reinforces Importance of Time Management at Annual Prize-Giving Ceremony

The annual prize-giving ceremony at Deighton Griffith Secondary School emphasized the importance of time management and the role of both teachers and students in shaping their future success.
The annual prize-giving ceremony at the Deighton Griffith Secondary School served as reinforcement to students that they should maximise their time.
Under the theme Make Every Second Count, Principal Major Michael Boyce and distinguished speaker Richard Jordan emphasised the significance of utilising time as a valuable asset as they addressed the students on Wednesday.
Stressing the power of good time management, Jordan urged students to recognise the pivotal stage of their growth where every second spent learning helps build a foundation for their future.
“You are at the stage where seconds lay the blocks of your foundation. Every second spent learning is an investment in your future. Each second brings you one more step towards your goals. Remember that the power to turn your dreams into reality depends on you,” he told them.
Jordan, a past winner of the National Distinguished Teacher Award, also highlighted the crucial role teachers play in shaping students’ lives. “Our role as teachers is pivotal,” he said. “Consider how transformative the seconds we spend educating our students are. Our influence extends beyond the textbooks. During these seconds, we become more than teachers, we become intellects assisting our students.
“Our influence echoes onto the lives of our students. We must continue to be guiding lights and foster an environment where we show students that every second counts.”
Major Boyce, during his address, focused on the school’s achievements throughout the academic year. He particularly emphasised the institution’s commitment to inclusion, especially in supporting students with special needs or those facing academic challenges. The principal detailed various initiatives and support systems, including the introduction of a performance review to assess students’ academic records and engage with parents.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of awards, recognising outstanding achievements in both academic and extracurricular activities.
