Common entrance results are back

The Ministry of Education announces the results of the 2023 Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination. Top scorers achieved perfect scores in Mathematics and English.
The Ministry of Education announced the results of the 2023 Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination (BSSEE) this morning.
Education Minister Kay McConney revealed that 35 students scored 100 percent in Mathematics and one student scored 100 in English.
Scott Johnson of Charles F Broome Primary School is the top-performing male. He scored 100 in Mathematics, 96 in English, an A in the Composition, and will be going to The St Michael School.
The top-performing female is Anaya Sealy of People’s Cathedral Primary School got 99 in Mathematics, 99 in English, and an A in the essay. She will be off to Queen’s College next month.
McConney says the results this year indicated that her ministry’s decision to delay the exam was a good one.
This year there were 53 requests for exemptions to write the exam as compared to 23 in 2022 and 47 the previous year.
