Kirton Brothers Clashed in St Vincent & the Grenadines Tennis Tournament 2024: 13-year-old Dimitri Wins Title
The Kirton brothers faced off in the boys singles final at the St Vincent & the Grenadines Tennis Association Chatoyers Invitational 2024. Dimitri Kirton emerged victorious after a challenging match against his younger brother. The tournament was part of the COTECC Under-14 and Under-12 circuit, with the next stop being the 39th COTECC International Junior Tennis Championship in Saint Lucia.
The battle of the Kirton boys was among the highlights at the National Tennis Centre in Kingstown, St Vincent & the Grenadines on Thursday. The two Bajan lads, brothers, battled for the boys singles title in the St Vincent & the Grenadines Tennis Association Chatoyers Invitational 2024.
13-year-old Dimitri Kirton emerged the winner, but only after battling through his second consecutive tough tie. He was taken to a tie-break in the semifinal, and though he narrowly avoided having to go that route in the final, he was only eventually able to overcome 12-year-old Zane 7-5 6-3.
The brothers teamed up on Emancipation Day to face off against the tournament’s top two singles seeds, both of whom they had eliminated en route to the family final.
El Salvador’s Mateo Gutierrez and Antigua & Barbuda’s Giovanni Quinn were also the top-rated boys doubles team, and they had their way with Dimitri and Zane, defeating them 6-3 6-1.
SVG was the latest stop on the Confederation of Tennis and Central America and the Caribbean (COTECC) Under-14 and Under-12 circuit.
The next stop is Saint Lucia, for the 39th COTECC International Junior Tennis Championship, presented by Sagicor Life, in collaboration with the Saint Lucia Tennis Association.
Also competing in Saint Lucia among the girls will be 13-year-old Micah Austin and 12-year-old Adai Hope.
