Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley surprised some old friends from her London School of Economics days in England on Wednesday.
Thirty-nine years since they last saw each other or were all together in the same place, the four former schoolmates briefly reunited in Nassau, The Bahamas.
It was the occasion of the 31st Afreximbank Annual Conference and its third edition of the AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum at the Baha Mar Convention, Arts & Entertainment Center.
Mottley, a keynote speaker, arrived in the island on Wednesday and surprised Michelle Pindling-Charles, whom she said took care of her, along with Tijani Folawiyo and Dr Timi Austen-Peters, as she was the youngest in the group during those study years.
The gesture by Mottley and Folawiyo to seek out Pindling-Charles and Austen Peters after they had met up was greeted by squeals of delight and hugs. There was a bit of reminiscing, introductions and of course picture-taking before they separated.
There was a second celebration for Mottley later that night as she viewed the West Indies/New Zealand match of the International Cricket Council Men’s T20 World Cup with the regional side beating the Kiwis. (AC)
