Barbadian entertainers unite for LUV the Hurricane Relief Lime to support the fishing community and islands of St Vincent and the Grenadines post-Hurricane Beryl. Fundraising event on July 23 at Copacabana Beach Club.
Barbadian entertainers will be doing their part to help raise funds for the local fishing community and islands of St Vincent and the Grenadines that were impacted by Hurricane Beryl.
Entrepreneur and founder of Mabel John Foundation Vania ‘Vayne’ Thompson encouraged Barbadians to support LUV the Hurricane Relief Lime which will be held on Tuesday, July 23 at Copacabana Beach Club, Bay Street, St Michael.
“After Hurricane Beryl, our fishing community was devastated. Islands of St Vincent and the Grenadines were also affected, primarily Union Island, Canouan and Mayreau.
“Our next step was to see how we can raise money for Barbados and those islands. It’s more than more important because right now there are people who are literally homeless in Union Island and it’s super urgent because they are going to need help for a long time,” Thompson said.
This will not be the first time she raised funds for a good cause considering the foundation was founded after St Vincent’s La Soufrière erupted in 2021.
In addition to the event, Thompson started a crowding campaign on GoFundMe at https://gofund.me/375053e6
The goal is US $10 000.
Entertainers Alison Hinds, Edwin Yearwood, Peter Ram, Two Mile Hill, Hypasounds, Mikey, Nikita Tionne Hernadez and many others are expected to perform on Tuesday for $20.
“That $20 is going to go to charity and to who need it most. We will make a trip to St Vincent to make sure we are seeing exactly where the money and items are going. We are going to make sure the people who need it here also receive it,” she said.
The event begins at 6 p.m. (TG)
