Barbados farmers face challenges as drought alert and intense heat warning of 35 degrees Celsius impact crop yield. Farmer acknowledges climate change effects on dry conditions.
Farmers are bracing for a challenging next few months in the midst of a drought alert issued by the Barbados Meteorological Services.
The projected dry period has come with a warning of intense heat reaching 35 degrees Celsius. Along with the recognised health hazards, these conditions have also spelt a tale of woe for farmers and their crop yield.
At Three Houses, St Philip, farmer Roopnarine Sain was unaware of the drought advisory, but he recognised these dry conditions as an effect of the changing climate.
