Barbados Meteorological Services Extends Flash Flood Watch as Shearline Brings Heavy Showers
September 17, 2024
Barbados Meteorological Services extends flash flood watch due to a shearline causing heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms. Moderate shower activity expected, potential flooding in low-lying areas. Watch in effect until 6 p.m.
The Barbados Meteorological Services has extended a flash flood watch for the island.
A shearline continues to affect Barbados, which brought heavy showers and few isolated thunderstorms this morning. Pockets of moderate shower activity is expected to continue throughout the day resulting in possible flooding across low-lying areas.
A flash flood watch means that conditions are favourable for flash flooding to occur within the watch area, though it does not guarantee that flooding will happen.
This watch will remain in effect until 6 p.m. today or sooner if conditions improve.
