A severe thunderstorm watch and a flood watch are in effect for Barbados overnight as a tropical waves moves into the area.
A severe thunderstorm watch is issued when significant lightning activity is possible within the watch area and is valid from 6 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday, but may be terminated sooner if conditions warrant.
The flood watch will be in effect over the same period.
Rainfall accumulations reaching up to 30 mm from occasionally cloudy skies are anticipated across Barbados. Due to the already saturated nature of the environment any additional rainfall throughout the night is likely to generate flooding in flood prone areas.
