April 19, 2024
"Stay informed and prepared for possible flash flooding in Barbados due to forecasted heavy rainfall. Follow emergency management recommendations and monitor updates from Barbados Meteorological Services. Learn more at barbadosweather.org."
Due to the effects of a trough system, maximum rainfall accumulations of 15.0 to 40.0 mm from heavy to intense showers are anticipated across the island throughout the day.
This activity could generate flooding across low-lying areas of Barbados. Therefore, the Barbados Meteorological Services has issued a Flash-Flood Watch.
These conditions are predicted to peak during the morning session with some improvement into this evening. A flash-flood watch is issued when heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than 6 hours) could result in flash flooding within the watch area. It does not mean that flooding will occur, but it is possible.
This Flood/Flash Flood Watch or Warning was issued at 9:50am Friday 19th April 2024 and will be updated/terminated at Noon Friday 19th April 2024 or sooner if conditions warrant.
