Grateful Mothers Welcome New Year's Babies at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH)
January 1, 2024
Four mothers celebrate the New Year by giving birth at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, with more expected. The hospital expresses gratitude to staff and donors for their support.
Four grateful mothers have started 2024 in a big way, after they all delivered babies at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).
QEH’s Communication Specialist Shane Sealy said so far, four babies have been delivered, with more expected before the close of the day.
“I am really happy to report today that our team here at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital has welcomed three girls and one boy on this New Year’s Day. We also have three mothers in labour as we currently speak so we should expect that the tally should go up to seven by the end of this January 1st, 2024.
“The team has been working around the clock really hard, [along with] the nurses and doctors, and we really want to thank them for their commitment over the year 2023,” he said.
The first baby, a girl, was delivered at 8:45 a.m., weighing seven pounds. The second baby, a boy, was delivered at 8:55 a.m., weighing six pounds nine ounces, and a third baby, a girl, was delivered at 9:35 a.m., weighing eight pounds four ounces. No information on the fourth baby was immediately available.
Sealy also thanked Bryden Stokes for their donations to the new mothers, all of whom received gift hampers filled with much needed items for their newborns.
“Fifty hampers for 50 mothers; that is really good as we are welcoming these new babies here at the hospital, and we really expect it to go a long way in helping those moms over the next few months. This partnership is one which will continue for the next six months.”
Sonju Patterson, Brand Manager at Bryden Strokes, spoke highly of the partnership between both entities, stating: “Recently within the past year-and-a-half at Bryden Stokes, we would have recognised the need from persons reaching out to us for donations. So we decided, you know, why not come to the hospital where it all starts.”
