Ministry of Health and Wellness' Vector Control Unit Conducts Mosquito Reduction Program in St Thomas and St Michael this Week

Ministry of Health and Wellness' Vector Control Unit to conduct mosquito reduction program in St Thomas and St Michael communities. Detailed fogging schedule and safety reminders provided.
Communities in St Thomas and St Michael will be visited by the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ Vector Control Unit this week, when it conducts its mosquito reduction programme.
The Unit will focus on St Thomas for the first three days of the week before moving on to St Michael. There will be no fogging on Friday, April 18, which is a bank holiday.
On Monday, April 14, the following districts will be sprayed: White Hall Road, Cane Hill Terrace, Bon Road, Valley View, Country Side South, Country Side North, Shop Hill, Edgehill Heights Nos. 1 and 2 and Edgehill Terrace.
The following day, Tuesday, April 15, Christie Village, Shop Hill, Grand View Heights, Edgehill Terrace, Melrose, Arthur Seat and Cane Garden will be targeted for fogging.
On Wednesday, April 16, the following areas will be sprayed: in Arthur Seat, Jackson Main Road, Browne’s Gap, Melrose Road, Vernon Edgar Drive, Chancery, Padmore Village Road, Welches Heights and surrounding areas.
The fogging exercise will conclude for the week on Thursday, April 17, in the following St Michael communities: Cane Garden, Emerald Drive, Ixora Crescent, Sunflower Drive, Croton Close, Jackson Main Road, Canewood Road, Cane Garden Park South and View Drive.
Fogging takes place from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily. Householders are reminded to open their windows and doors so that the spray can enter. Children should not be allowed to play in the fog.
Members of the public are advised that the completion of scheduled fogging activities may be affected by events beyond the Unit’s control. In such circumstances, the Unit will return to communities affected in the soonest possible time. (BGIS)
