Hurricane Beryl's eye passing south of Barbados, bringing storm-force winds of 40-50 mph. Category 3 hurricane with sustained winds of 120 MPH. Hurricane warning in effect for Barbados. Next update at 8 a.m.
Hurricane Beryl’s eye is now passing south of Barbados and feeder bands will continue to bring storm-force winds of 40 to 50 mph across the island into the late morning.
Beryl remains a strong category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120 MPH (195 Km/h). At 5 a.m. Monday, the eye was located near 11.7N 59.9W or about 130 km (110 miles) south of Barbados.
The system continues to move westward at 20 MPH (31 km/h) with a minimum central pressure is 965mb. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 45 km (30 miles) from the centre and tropical storm-force winds extend outward up to 185 km (115 miles).
A hurricane warning is issued when sustained winds of 64 knots (74 mph/119kmh) or greater associated with a hurricane are forecast to affect Barbados within 36 hours.
