Barbados Flash Flood Watch in Effect, Updates Provided by Meteorological Services
October 8, 2024
Flash flood watch in effect for Barbados until 6 p.m. due to a trough system, bringing potential for showers, thunderstorms, and flooding. Stay updated with local meteorological services and government advisories.
A flash flood watch is in effect for Barbados and will be terminated at 6 p.m. or sooner if conditions warrant.
The Barbados Meteorological Services said a trough system continues to affect the island, bringing the possibility of cloudy skies, showers and thunderstorms.
Residents are urged to be cautious of potential runoff from higher elevations, soil erosion, and exposed or scarred land surfaces. Flooding may also affect roads and fields, and adjustments to water levels in ponds and other water bodies are expected.
The public is advised to stay informed by monitoring updates from the Barbados Meteorological Services, Department of Emergency Management and the Barbados Government Information Service.
A flash flood watch is issued when heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than six hours) could result in flash flooding within the watch area, but it does not mean that flooding will occur.
