Driver's Licence Test Delays at The Pine as Testing Officers Protest Overworking and Understaffing

Students seeking immediate driver’s license tests at The Pine faced delays as officers protested being understaffed. National Union of Public Workers cited staffing shortages at the Licensing Department.
Students seeking to have their driver’s licence test done yesterday were made to wait a bit longer as testing officers at The Pine were off the job.
The officers at the Ministry of Transport and Works were protesting “being understaffed and overworked”.
Deputy general secretary of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), Wayne Walrond, explained that some workers in that Licensing Department are on leave and the two officers on duty felt overwhelmed.
“There are eight posts of licensing officers but only five have been filled. We have an unfortunate situation where people are on leave, leaving the remaining two people to take up duty. Due to the overwhelming and stressful situation, they were not able to provide the service. This caused an impact on the ability to honour the arrangement today. It is a case of lack of staffing,” Walrond said.
