A man who confessed to drug charges returns to Dodds Prison after failing to meet bail criteria. He awaits sentencing for possession, trafficking, intent to supply, and cultivation of marijuana.
A man who confessed to drug charges last week returned to Dodds Prison on remand yesterday after he still could not meet the bail criteria set by Magistrate Joy-Ann Clarke.
When Desmond Raymond Eastmond, a farmer, of Sherbourne No. 3, St John, first appeared in the District “C” Magistrates’ Court at St Matthias, Christ Church, he pleaded guilty to possession, trafficking, intent to supply and cultivation of 5.95 kilogrammes of marijuana on August 15.
Eastmond, who said the cannabis helps with his asthma, is awaiting sentence on those matters.
However, he was not required to plead to three other drug charges in connection with possession, intent to supply and trafficking 344.6 kilogrammes of cannabis with a street value of $1 378 400. (SD)
