Barbados Football Legend Keith Griffith Remembered in Final Tribute Service

Former Barbados football captain, player, and coach Keith “Grell’ Griffith's life will be celebrated at a service of thanksgiving at Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens. Tributes to his 40-year sports career will precede the ceremony.
Scores of Barbadians, many of them from the sporting fraternity, are expected to pay their final respects this afternoon to former Barbados football captain, star player, and coach Keith “Grell’ Griffith.
The service of thanksgiving to celebrate the life of Griffith will be held at the chapel of Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m.
Tributes will commence at 1:30.
Griffith passed away on January 13 at the age of 80. He played football for Barbados from 1966 to 1976, in 120 representative matches including 55 full internationals, and was involved in the sport as a player and coach for more than 40 years.
Griffith is the only man to take two different countries to the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) finals, achieving the feat with Barbados in 1994 and Antigua in 1995.
That 1994 side included Trevor Thorne, Wayne “Guy” Sobers, Sherwin Mullin, Terry Sealy, Dave Alleyne and Hendy Williams. Griffith was honoured at the 2010 National Independence Awards with a Barbados Service Star.
Ranked by many to make an all-time Barbados football team, Griffith was a longstanding coach at the National Sports Council and a noted radio commentator.
