Jeffrey Milk Broomes Identified as Victim of Fatal Accident at Bridgetown Port

A tragic accident at Bridgetown Port results in the death of Jeffrey "Milk" Broomes, a dedicated worker of over 30 years. Condolences are expressed by the Barbados Workers Union (BWU).
The man who died in an accident at the Bridgetown Port has been identified as Jeffrey “Milk” Broomes.
The 64-year-old of Upper Goodland, St Michael, died on Friday when, according to police, a container fell on him during a cargo vessel operation.
Among those expressing condolences at the tragic incident was general secretary of the Barbados Workers Union (BWU), Toni Moore.
“To lose Jeffrey, who many of us knew as ‘Milk’, is a heart-wrenching blow,” she said. “He stood as an emblem of dedication. His passing is a poignant reminder of the great risk workers face. The Executive Council of our Union extends its profound condolences to his loved ones and stands ready to support them in any possible way.”
According to a release from the BWU, for over 30 years, Broomes, with his unwavering dedication, cemented his legacy at the Bridgetown Port, winning the love and admiration of his peers.
“As he neared retirement, this tragedy took away a soul cherished by many. The distress is palpable, especially for his son, who was with him during this fateful event,” the statement said.
In addition to speaking to members of Broomes’ family, the BWU also provided counselling services for staff. (PRSAT)
