Former police officer and police constable testify in trial of customs brokers charged with drug offences related to importation of 301.4kg of cannabis. Trial adjourned until October 23, 2023.
A former police officer and a police constable gave evidence before a nine-member jury in the trial of two customs brokers charged with drug offences relating to the importation of 301.4 kilogrammes of cannabis on Wednesday.
Former police officer Troy Wickham and Police Constable Sylvester Cummins took the witness stand in Supreme Court No. 4 to provide information in the September 3, 2012 matter in which Corrie McCaulay Brathwaite of Dash Valley, St George and Dwight Anderson Michael Clarke of Mangrove, St Philip, are charged with the importation, possession and trafficking of 664 pounds of the controlled drug.
The drugs were discovered in a shipping container in the Bridgetown Port.
Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Alliston Seale SC is prosecuting the case while Ralph Thorne SC is representing the accused men.
The matter was adjourned until October 23, 2023.
