Michael Oneal Beckles has to spend another 14 years and 57 days in prison for the murder of English visitor Brian Mulligan.
Beckles, of 1st Ave Maxwell Coast Road, Christ Church, had denied murdering the 28-year-old Englishman Mulligan on June 15, 2014, but was eventually convicted of the offence.
Mulligan, who was residing in Barbados while working on contract as a fibre optic engineer with telecommunications company LIME – now known as FLOW – died after being stabbed once in the chest. He was from Epsom, in Surrey.
Justice Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell said she took into consideration Beckles’ six years plus on remand, his generally good pre-sentencing report and his adverse childhood before sentencing. She ordered that he undergo anger management and drug counselling to assist in his rehabilitation into society. (SD)
