St. John Men Arrested and Charged for Cannabis Offences: News Update

Three St John men have been arrested and charged with various cannabis-related offences. Find out more about the charges and court appearances in this article.
Police have arrested and charged three St John men with a number of offences relating to cannabis.
Joseph Nathaniel Codrington, 63, of Sherbourne No. 3, St John, was charged with permitting his premises to be used for the production of cannabis on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. Police executed a search warrant at his home and 26 cannabis plants were found in his backyard.
Also charged in relation to the same 26 plants was Desmond Raymond Eastmond, 54, of the same address. He was charged with possession of cannabis, trafficking in cannabis, possession with intent to supply cannabis and cultivation of cannabis. Eastmond was also charged with possession of cannabis, trafficking in cannabis and possession with intent to supply cannabis in relation to 13 bales of cannabis weighing approximately six kilogrammes with an estimated street value of $1 378 400. This was as a result of an operation conducted on August 14 by police in Edgecliff, St John. The cannabis was discovered in a vehicle owned and driven by Eastmond.
Jamel Omar Maughn, 38, of Zores Land, St John, was charged with possession of cannabis, trafficking in cannabis and possession with intent to supply cannabis in relation to 22.70 kilos of cannabis with an estimated street value of $91 400, which was found at his residence during the execution of a search warrant by police on August 14, 2023.
The all appeared before Magistrate Joy-Ann Clarke on Friday, August 18, 2023. Eastmond and Codrington were both remanded until Thursday, August 24, 2023, while Maughn was granted bail to return on the same date. (PR/KNB)
