England fast bowler Jofra Archer shines with a five-wicket haul for Wildey in Barbados Cricket Association Elite competition. Wildey leads against Pickwick as Archer's performance boosts their chances.
England fast bowler Jofra Archer returned to action with a five-wicket haul for his home club Wildey as they dominated ESA Field Pickwick at the SJPIT grounds on day 1 of the Barbados Cricket Association Elite three-day competition, Saturday.
Coming into the fifth series of games Wildey were tied with the University of the West Indies (UWI) on 29 points, which currently puts them in line for demotion, but with the major boost of having Archer in the lineup they would be hoping to change their fortunes.
Archer struck in his third over when he bowled opening batter Yvan Grant and number 3 Micaiah Simmons off consecutive balls with the score on 18. During his second spell after the lunch break, he picked up a further three wickets to finish with figures of five for seven in eight overs with three maidens.
Left arm spinner Jerome Jones cleaned up the middle order, taking three wickets for three runs from seven overs while bowling fives maidens.
Pickwick were bowled out for 61 runs from 30 overs. In reply Wildey are comfortably ahead by 51 runs, 112/1. Demetrius Richards and Nimar Bolden are on 41 and 36 not out respectively.

Fushionz Boutique Spartan hold the edge after day 1 of their clash with rivals Empire.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, opening batter Akeem Springer continued his fine form as he stroked 67 in 96 balls, he was well supported by Mikhail Austin who scored 65 in 84 balls. Spartan are currently 254/8 in 59 overs.
Empire were boosted with the return of the left arm spin duo, Jomel Warrican and Nathan Sealy, who were representing the Barbados Royals the day before during the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League. They both were the leading bowlers on the day for Empire with Warrican picking up three for 36 and Sealy two for 29.

UWI recovered from early trouble at 44 for 4 in the eighth over to post a total of 254 all out against Yorkshire.
Captain Kyle Corbin played an exciting innings as he scored 62 in only 46 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. He was well assisted by the lower order as Shaquan Cave scored 50 in 95 balls while Chemar Holder made 47 in 84 balls.
Steve Pinder starred with the ball as he took five wickets for 55 runs from 18 overs with his steady left arm spin.
In their turn at bat, Yorkshire wasted no time when the opening batters rushed to 79 in only 12 overs before play ended with the wicket of Shem Watson as he was LBW to leg spinner Javed Leacock for 38. Althelbert Brathwaite in unbeaten on 32.
