Barbados prepares for the 2024 Senior Caribbean Area Squash Association Championships in Georgetown, Guyana, aiming to dethrone the defending champions. The team features top-seeded athletes and up-and-coming talents.
Team Barbados is gearing up to compete in the 2024 Senior Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Championships, from August 18-24 in Georgetown, Guyana.
Barbados, back-to-back winners in 2014 and 2015, will be aiming to unseat the two-time defending champions at home. Guyana swept the men’s, women’s, and veterans’ team titles in the Cayman Islands in 2023, when nine countries competed in individual and team events.
The new international standard doubles court in Georgetown is expected to be used for the event.
The Barbados team comprises 18 talented athletes across various age categories and two experienced officials. The team is led by defending men’s and women’s champions, top-seeded Khamal Cumberbatch and Margot Prow.
The team will also include a number of up-and-coming young players, including the 2024 CASA Under-19 girls champion, Eboni Atherley.
It’s been a busy summer for Atherley. She competed in the World Squash Federation (WSF) Junior Championships, at the Houston Squash Club, Texas, USA. Along with the USA-based Cumberbatch, Darien Benn, Alex Stewart, and Sumairaa Suleman, she also took part in the 2024 Senior Pan American Squash Championships in Lima, Peru.
