Pickwick Gap Parking Guidelines During ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Clarified by Officials

Residents of Pickwick Gap can park by their homes during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, ensuring emergency vehicle access. The traffic plan, similar to past events, prioritizes safety.
Pickwick Gap residents will be able to park their vehicles by their homes as long as they do not impede access of emergency vehicles during the International Cricket Council Men’s T20 World Cup.
The clarity was provided yesterday evening during a walkabout with residents by a host of officials including representatives from the National Organising Committee, Kensington Oval Management Inc (KOMI), the Barbados Police Service and City of Bridgetown Member of Parliament, Corey Lane.
Police communications and public affairs officer, Inspector Rodney Inniss explained that the traffic plan for the T20 World Cup was not new and most of it was utilised during the 2007 World Cup, the 2010 T20 World Cup and other international and regional series.
“What is unique about Pickwick Gap is that it is the direct emergency route. If something happens here, we exit via that gate onto Pickwick Gap onto QEH Hospital. We have a primary and a secondary route and it engages that area,” he said. (HG)
