Darian King, Barbados' top tennis player, has made his mark by joining the national senior football team, along with other familiar faces, for upcoming matches in the CONCACAF Nations League.
Barbados’ best tennis player Darian King has broken new ground with his selection to the national senior football team.
The 31-year-old box-to-box midfielder was yesterday named in a 23-man Barbados squad for the final two matches of the CONCACAF Nations League.
King is joined by three Wotton clubmates Omani Leacock, Elijah Downey and custodian Liam Brathwaite as a host of familiar faces return to national colours for tomorrow night’s fixture against Nicaragua at the Wildey Turf. Exciting striker Thierry Gale is unavailable due to club commitments with FC Dila Gori in Georgia.
The squad, now under the direction of interim coach and technical director Emmerson Boyce, then travels to Montserrat for Monday’s afternoon kickoff.
Boyce, who won the FA Cup with Wigan in 2013, has called upon a whopping ten players from champion club Weymouth Wales players including the resounding move to recall former captain Hadan Holligan. (DG)
