The rush is on for the senior national football team’s coaching job.
President of the Barbados Football Association, Randy Harris, said that ever since the sudden departure of Barbados’ senior men’s national coach Orlando Da Costa and his assistant Ricardo Fernandes earlier this month, more than 50 candidates from across the world have contacted him to vie for the position.
In an interview with Midweek Sport this week while attending a FIFA/Concacaf Coach Educator’s Development Pathway course at the Courtyard by Marriott, Harris revealed there was no shortage of interest in the vacant position.
BFA technical director and former Barbados defender Emmerson Boyce is performing head coach duties in the interim.
The former Wigan captain in the English Premier League and FA Cup winner was asked to perform the role after Da Costa and Fernandes mutually agreed with the BFA that their contracts not be renewed. (DG)
